Women in traditional costumes in Korea

This photo of women wearing traditional Korean costumes was taken at a Korean cultural celebration in Seoul.  I love the way that South Korea has evolved into a vibrant and modern city but has still hung on to many of its cultures and traditions.  South Korea is a great place to get your Asian cultural fix, but it is much less expensive to visit than Japan.

I remember walking around Japan during Golden Week a couple years ago. There were groups of women in traditional kimonos – a beautiful sight and one that’s rare. It’s an image that stuck everlasting in my mind.

Korea is a beautiful place and it has made so many strides technologically. I think they’ll catch Japan soon. Samsung, LG, Gangnam style, 2NE1 .. so much fun stuff from Korea.

I hate to say this, but I liked our visit to Korea more than our visit to Japan. Korea is a great, modern country that has still managed to hang onto its heritage.
