ToggleClub Med Miches Playa Esmeralda – An Overview
Club Med Miches Playa Esmeralda is an all inclusive resort located on the northern shore of the Dominican Republic. It offers a truly luxury experience that makes you feel like you are in your own tropical paradise, removed from the rest of the world.
Many Club Med Resorts offer a section of the resort as part of their “Exclusive Collection”. These spaces offer a much higher level of luxury and upgraded amenities from a regular Club Med Resort. Club Med Miches Playa Esmeralda is an entirely Exclusive Collection resort, meaning that the whole resort offers Club Med’s highest level of amenities, details and service. This whole resort was truly stunning, and the whole experience was a delight from beginning to end.
The incredible beauty at this resort is only eclipsed by the warmth and welcoming nature of its gracious team members, who went out of their way at every opportunity to make our stay special. They stopped to chat with us, they were out in the evenings hanging out and socializing with guests. This unique, friendly, welcoming atmosphere is part of what makes Club Med Miches so special.

We loved this resort, and because of its four unique “villages”, this high end luxury resort is a perfect fit for anyone who is looking for a stunning resort on a secluded beach with spectacular food and memorable evening entertainment. It is great for couples and honeymooners with two unique adults only areas.
This resort is especially well suited to families with kids of all ages, and particularly multigenerational families traveling together. Everyone can enjoy their own “right” space and activities during the day, and can come together at the heart of the resort for meals and entertainment in the evenings for a perfect balance of apart and together time!
Here is the rest of our detailed Club Med Miches Playa Esmeralda reviews!
Club Med Miches Playa Esmeralda – Location
Club Med Miches Playa Esmeralda is not near the airport…but that was part of what I felt made it truly special. Club Med Miches is located on the northern coast of the Dominican Republic, near the little village of Miches.

It was a comfortable hour and twenty minute transfer from the Punta Cana airport (we highly recommend including your transfers when we book your trip…we can help you with this). Club Med makes transfers super easy – all we needed to do was find the Club Med desk in the Punta Cana airport and they pulled our transfer up front, helped with our luggage and got us settled inside with a cold bottle of water for the ride.
We drove through the Dominican countryside, and had a chance to rest after our journey. The resort is off by itself, on a stunning stretch of beach (Club Med only builds properties in the best places where they can get in early, when there are few other resorts built yet to secure the most stunning beaches and locations for their resorts).
By the time we arrived, we were rested and we felt like we were arriving in our own, personal tropical paradise.
Our Arrival at Club Med Miches

We were seated and given cool washcloths to freshen up after our journey, and with a small but beautifully presented glass of papaya juice while we were given a short orientation and were handed our keys. I appreciated that we were not overwhelmed or bombarded with information at that moment, as our travel weary brains would not have been able to absorb it. Afterwards, we were scooped onto a golf cart with our luggage and escorted to our room.
Club Med Miches Playa Esmeralda – Map and Layout
Until we visited this massive resort, it was hard to grasp how a large complex like this could feel expansive and intimate at the same time. It is all about the thoughtful way that the resort is laid out.
Club Med Miches Playa Esmeralda is separated into “villages” within the resort. Each village has a different feeling, and is geared towards different guests. The different villages are all tied together by the main pool, activity and restaurant complex at the center of the resort.

Explorer Cove is the “family” section of Club Med Miches. It is closest to the Mini Club facilities and has rooms that are close to the family section of the beach.
The Caribbean Paradise section is also for families, but it is more geared towards multi generational families, or families with older children who will not be using the Mini Club (as it is farther away from the kids facilities).
The Emerald Jungle Area is an adults only area of the resort. It is centered around the Zen Pool, an adults only oasis that is a little removed from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the resort. This area is surrounded by lush, dense tropical foliage that makes you feel like you are really staying in the jungle.
Last is the secluded Archipelago section. This special section of the resort is also for adults only, and located near the adults only section of the beach and the Coco Plum Restaurant. These rooms are very private feeling and feature private outdoor pools and secluded outdoor spaces. They are perfect for honeymooners!
*** TIP – We highly suggest taking part in the daily resort tour. It meets near the lobby and is on the daily schedule (ask at the front desk if you don’t see it). They will walk you around the whole resort and show you where everything is. We found it quite helpful upon arrival.
Club Med Miches Playa Esmeralda – Rooms
There are so many room types at Club Med Miches. We know that it can seem overwhelming. We are happy to work with you to find out what your specific needs are and make a suggestion for exactly which room is the perfect type for you.
Here is an overview of the room types in each section of the resort, as well as our favorites:
Explorer Cove Rooms:
There are a wide range of rooms within Explorer Cove, from “Deluxe” rooms (the most basic room category at Club Med, even though these rooms are still stunning and way more than adequate).

A family junior suite (the room type that we stayed in) is a spectacular upgrade from the deluxe rooms. It has two separate rooms for adults and kids (with two and a half bathrooms), and a large french door from the main bedroom leading out to a patio/balcony. These rooms couldn’t possibly be any more family friendly!
Club Med Miches Exclusive Collection Space, “La Perla”
The top tier of rooms in Explorer Cove are to be found in the “La Perla” area of the resort. This “resort within a resort” is an exclusive area (only people staying here have access). These rooms have prime spots walking out right onto the beach, and the La Perla area has its own private pool and lounge area, as well as a concierge and drinks/snacks throughout the day. If you are looking for an elevated, premium experience and a private enclave to enjoy spending time together with your family, this is a fantastic choice for you.

Here is a quick tour of the Club Med Miches Playa Esmerelda Ocean Front Family Suite in the “La Perla” exclusive section.
Emerald Jungle Rooms:
There is only one category of rooms available within the Emerald Jungle. This area is adults only, and there are “Deluxe” rooms available here on either the first or second floor, with beautiful jungle views. The rooms are laid out around the Emerald Jungle pool, which is the crown jewel of this adults only oasis.

Here is a tour of one of the Zen Oasis deluxe rooms within the Emerald Jungle section of the resort.
Caribbean Paradise Rooms:
This area is the hardest to categorize. It isn’t for adults only, and it isn’t the best for families with young kids. It is a bright, cheerful section of the resort that gracefully “catches” all of the other folks that don’t fit into one of the other sections.

There are two types of rooms in the Caribbean Paradise section…Deluxe rooms and junior suites. They are both beautiful, though the junior suites are the only rooms in this section with ocean views. These are great for families who perhaps have kids, but want to be near someone staying in one of the nearby adults only areas.
Archipelago Rooms

Here is a tour of one of the luxurious Archipelago Suites at Club Med Miches Playa Esmerleda.
Club Med Miches Playa Esmeralda – Food and Restaurants
Club Med Resorts do dining a little bit differently than many other all-inclusives. Instead of offering a multitude of varied restaurant choices, most Club Med Resorts offer a couple of restaurant choices that serve a wide variety of high quality cuisine. There is generally one “main” restaurant that serves a variety of different cuisines in a central space, and one or two other specialty restaurants offering varying other selections at the times that the main restaurant is closed.
Cayuco (the Main Restaurant at Club Med Miches Playa Esmerelda)
The restaurant selections at Club Med Miches Esmeralda follow this same pattern. The main restaurant is called Cayuco. It sits in a privileged spot on the second floor at the heart of the resort, with multiple dining rooms and a terrace with beautiful views of the resort.
Cayuco is divided into separate dining rooms. There are dining spaces exclusively for adults. There are dining spaces for families (with all of the “family” necessities nearby like high chairs and baby food handy)…there is even a secret chocolate speakeasy here for the kids (it is on the daily program, or you can ask what night it will be). There is a solid variety of kid friendly favorites for you picky eaters, so no need to worry there!
The food in the Cayuco is served at individual stations, but it is not like a buffet. While there are things that you can serve yourself, the main items are individually plated and served by a chef when you walk up. There is table service for wine, but there is not any other table service for food. We actually really like this dining concept…you get the benefits of a buffet and being able to try a huge variety of different dishes with the food quality of a fine dining restaurant!

Gluten Free/Special Dietary Needs at Club Med Miches Playa Esmerelda
My son has celiac disease. This means that he cannot eat ANY gluten…not even a teeny, tiny little crumb (or he will immediately become ill). His dietary needs were well cared for throughout out stay at Club Med Miches Playa Esmerelda. We were always able to find a chef (many times, the head chef) who gladly showed us everything at the restaurant that he could eat that was gluten free.
They did not have a dedicated frier for fries, but they were willing to make him fries in a pan fried in separate oil a couple of times. While they did have gluten free pizza dough and pancakes, the dough/batter for both of these was a little weird and was not that appetizing.
I also saw many, many vegetarian options and quite a few choices labeled “dairy free” as well.
Coco Plum Beach Lounge

Coco Plum is a smaller, more intimate restaurant where you order off of a menu and your food is served to you. This is a beautiful oceanfront space that specializes in seafood. Coco Plum is open for late breakfast through dinner (check your Club Med app for hours), covering the gaps where the main restaurant is closed.
Coal and Copper Restaurant
Club Med Miches offers one other dining experience, Coal and Copper. This restaurant serves fine aged steaks and lobster. It is located in the main building across from the main dining room, and it comes at an extra cost, but we have heard that the experience is worth it (we had a relatively short stay, so with the kids, we did not make it over there).

A little note – there are little bits of time during the day at most Club Med resorts where food seems to be lacking…restaurants are closed before dinner or at other times. This might seem odd to some American travelers, but Club Med is a European company, and just like you learn when you visit Europe, food is not always available around the clock.
Most of the time, when there is a gap between meals, there are some sort of little snacks and hors d’oeuvres being served somewhere. At the Club Med Miches, there were little nibbles served at the beach bar throughout the day. In the afternoon, we also sometimes found small plates at a little stand near the pool or by the main bar to fill in the time before dinner.
Club Med Miches Playa Esmeralda – Mini Club Med and Teen Club Med
The kids club at Club Med is called Mini Club. It is for kids ages 4-10 years old (there are Baby Club and Petit Club for younger kids available at an additional fee). It is extremely well organized and easy. You just drop your kids off and they take them for meals…they even put sunscreen on them! You just need to make sure you drop them off with their hat, sunscreen and a swimsuit.
*** When you sign your kids up for Mini Club, you may be able to choose whether they are able to leave independently or not. This will depend on your kids and your comfort level, but we wanted to give you a heads up so you can think and have a conversation ahead of time.
The Mini Clubs at Club Med resorts are different from the kids clubs at many mainstream all inclusive resorts. You typically won’t find video games and entertainment on screens. Instead, the focus is on keeping your kids active and inviting them to participate in a variety of activity choices throughout the day.
While your kids might lament the lack of video games for a bit, they will soon be wrapped up in making new friends from all over the world and learning new activities and sports!

The teen clubs at Club Med Miches are divided into ages 11-13 years old and 14-17 years old. With both ages, the programming feels less structured and scheduled, and more like hanging out with a group of friends.
The GO’s who work with the teen clubs are more like good buddies who are there to guide and make suggestions based on what the group is interested in at the time. This flexibility seems to make the teen club experience at Club Med more appealing than the structured schedule of preplanned activities offered at other all-inclusives. .
One other little thing that we noted that we really liked about the Mini Club at Club Med Miches – there was always a security guard posted directly outside of the kids areas, which gave a nice feeling of security (there were actually security guards posted regularly around the resort).
Entertainment at Club Med Miches
As far as daytime entertainment, Club Med Miches is on the more relaxing, chill side. There are tons of activities going on around the resort which you will find in your Club Med app, but there isn’t much for shows and music during the day and the main pool area was relaxing and quiet.
That all changes as guests change from their swimsuits to their dinner clothes and the resort shifts from daytime chill mode to evening fun mode. It all starts with appetizers being laid out somewhere around the main bar before dinner time. Guests start to gather and nibble here in anticipation with a before dinner cocktail.

After dinner, there is generally an earlier “family” show or entertainment, which is followed by a later show or evening party. At Club Med Miches, the evening show was often a Cirque du Soleil style acrobatics show which was appealing to the whole family.
Despite the fact that the resort doesn’t have multiple bars and entertainment venues, we never felt lacking in things to do in the evenings. The fact that most of the entertainment is focused in one area means that the whole resort comes together in the evenings. It gives the resort a very communal feeling and an energy that is sometimes lacking when guests are dispersed into a variety of different venues.
One night a week, the resort pulls out all of the stops and puts on a high intensity party which is the highlight of the week. The party came complete with pyrotechnics on the stage and tons of fun. Despite its intensity, it was still welcoming for families. Many of the GO’s participate and hang out with guests and actively keep the energy up making this a great night for the whole family to enjoy together.

Activities at Club Med Miches
Pools:
There are multiple pools at Club Med Miches. The main pool is right at the heart of the resort. It is divided up into “sections” with varying depths, so your toddler can swim in a wading pool right next to your older kids who are swimming in a deeper section of the pool. We never saw a lack of chairs around the main pool area.

The adults only pool and swim up bar in the Emerald Jungle area is distinctive looking with its bright green coloring (don’t worry, it is just the tiles..the water is actually clear). This pool is actually completely free of chemicals! It is naturally filtered by the plants that surround the pool, which also give you the feeling of swimming in a natural pond in the jungle.
This pool is truly one of our favorite pools at any resort, and this would make a spectacular hideaway for a couples getaway.
The swim up bar at the adults only pool serves all of the alcoholic favorites, as well as little sandwiches and nibbles, but they also serve healthy, detoxifying smoothies if you have indulged a little too much or are looking for something healthier.

Next is a super fun kid pool with a kid sized water slide and splash pad that is perfect for little ones! It has a shaded canopy nearby to get out of the sun, and it is located right next to the mini club.
The last pool is located within the private La Perla family area. It is right on the beach, and accessible only to guests who are staying there. It is a great place to gather with family and friends in your own private haven.
Beach:
The beach at Club Med Miches makes you feel like you are on a remote island. There are no other resorts around this Club Med, so you can walk down the beach for quite a ways and likely not see anyone.
The beach is separated into a family section and an adults only section. The family section is large enough and located close to the kids clubs and family accommodations, so there really is nothing to drive families into the well marked adults only section.

There is a beach bar in the middle that serves drinks and little nibbles throughout the day (little sandwiches, chips and salsa/guacamole, etc).
The beach is perfect for littles. The depth gradually increases and it is sheltered by a coral reef a little ways offshore which breaks up the big waves. It was nice and sandy…we don’t remember needing water shoes. There was ok snorkeling out at the reef. We saw some fish as well as some brain and fan coral.
Watersports:
The watersports team down at the beach was fantastic. We were able to take out kayaks and paddle boards. The sea is windier here, especially as the afternoon wore on, so it was often too windy for sailing and some of the other watersports. If these are important to you, you should consider doing these earlier in the day.

Family Activities:
This is where Club Med really shines. There are a variety of activities that are designed each day to be enjoyed by families together. From family yoga in the treetop yoga pavilion, a daily family “big snack” with fun activities in the afternoon, a secret chocolate room waiting to be discovered, even a show once a week where your kiddos get to be the star! You will have a blast with your little people here. All resort shows and entertainment has been mindfully designed to include families, so you will have a great time connecting together.
Fitness and Yoga at Club Med Miches Playa Esmeralda
If you’re like us and can’t sit still for too long, you’ll be glad to know that Club Med Miches has tons of options to help you stay active while still feeling like you’re on vacation.
One of our absolute favorite wellness experiences was yoga in the jungle treehouse. Yes—an actual treetop yoga platform surrounded by the sounds and sights of the jungle! It was peaceful, breezy, and just magical. They offer a variety of classes here, including some that are more meditative and relaxing and others that feel more like a workout. We even saw a few family-friendly yoga classes on the schedule, so everyone can get involved.

If you’re looking for something more upbeat, there are all kinds of fitness classes scheduled throughout the day—everything from water aerobics in the main pool to stretching, abs and glutes classes, and cardio sessions in their very well-equipped fitness center.
There’s also a great gym onsite with both machines and free weights if you want to stick to your own routine. And even if you’re not into “formal” workouts, just walking around this beautiful, sprawling resort all day is its own kind of exercise!
This resort really makes it easy to stay healthy and active while still soaking up all the fun and relaxation you came for. Whether you’re stretching in the jungle or dancing in the pool, it’s wellness… Club Med style.
Cinq Mondes Spa at Club Med Miches Playa Esmerelda
One of the hidden gems at Club Med Miches Playa Esmeralda is the serene and luxurious Cinq Mondes Spa. Nestled in the heart of the lush Emerald Jungle section of the resort, this adults-only retreat is exactly what you’d hope for in a high-end wellness experience—and maybe even a little more.
The spa itself feels incredibly private and peaceful. Surrounded by thick tropical foliage and designed with open-air spaces, you’ll immediately feel relaxed the moment you step inside. Treatments here are inspired by wellness traditions from around the world, with options like Balinese massages, Polynesian body scrubs, and Japanese facial rituals.

One of our favorite things about this space is the connection to nature. You can unwind post-treatment in a quiet garden lounge, or even take a moment to dip into the spa’s own peaceful Zen pool. There’s also a treehouse-style yoga pavilion nearby where wellness classes are held throughout the day, adding another layer of calm to your time here.
Whether you’re visiting for a rejuvenating massage after a day of exploring, or you’re carving out a morning just for yourself, the Cinq Mondes Spa is a must-do for anyone looking to truly unwind. It fits in beautifully with the overall Club Med Miches experience—peaceful, refined, and completely focused on your well-being.
Club Med’s other strength is that they are among the most active resorts out there. They offer more activities and sports choices than most other resorts, making them perfect for active families! This is definitely THE resort for people who just can’t sit still.
Resort Activities

During our stay, we enjoyed archery, stand up paddleboarding, tennis (they even have lessons if you want to get started), trapeze lessons, kayaking…and we barely even scratched the surface!
Eco-Friendly Luxury at Club Med Michès Playa Esmeralda
One of the things that truly sets Club Med Michès Playa Esmeralda apart is its deep commitment to sustainability. From the moment you arrive, it’s clear that this resort isn’t just about luxury—it’s about luxury that respects and preserves the natural beauty surrounding it.
For starters, the resort has eliminated single-use plastics. Instead of plastic water bottles, you’ll find glass bottles in your room, and there are convenient refill stations throughout the property. This initiative alone prevents the use of approximately 60,000 plastic bottles annually.
The resort’s design is another testament to its eco-conscious philosophy. Structures are built no higher than the surrounding palm trees, ensuring that the natural landscape remains the star of the show. This thoughtful approach has earned the resort both BREEAM and Green Globe certifications, recognizing its sustainable construction and operations .

Club Med Michès also supports local communities by sourcing coffee, cacao, and produce from nearby farms, ensuring that your meals are both delicious and locally sustainable .
In terms of energy, the resort is making strides by installing solar panels to reduce its carbon footprint .
Additionally, the resort has partnered with environmental organizations to protect local wildlife. For example, the Protortuga program focuses on creating optimal conditions for sea turtle reproduction on nearby beaches, and educational workshops are held to raise awareness among guests .
Staying at Club Med Michès Playa Esmeralda means you can enjoy a luxurious vacation while knowing that your presence supports environmental conservation and local communities.
We hope you enjoyed our glowing Club Med Miches Playa Esmeralda reviews…we really loved this resort in a deep way and we would love for you to love it, too.
