Snowy mountain on Kodiak Island, AK

A beautiful Alaska photo taken on Kodiak Island, AK.  Even though it was a grey, cloudy day, Kodiak Island was one of the most beautiful places that I had ever seen.  There was an abundance of wildlife to be seen everywhere (we saw a fox as we were driving around, and locals regularly see bears).

Bald eagles were perched on telephone poles and trees right in the center of town.  It takes less than an hour to fly to Kodiak Island from Anchorge, making this an easy stop on your Alaska itinerary!

I can’t wait to go back! We were only there to visit friends for a couple of days (we are lucky, we have friends that live on Kodiak Island that we can stay with 🙂 I really want to go back and see more. We have considered taking a cruise there, but I really feel like I want to get out and explore more than the short port days on a cruise ship would allow.
